I heard a testimony in church yesterday and my spirit has been moved to share with you all my many testimonies on tithing and how we can make sure we keep reaping the bountiful blessings God has stored for us.
Please note i am not an authority on this subject and these are my personal experiences and i write hoping that someone will be blessed by these testimonies and convinced that the word of God is TRUTH.
I base my faith on tithing on what God promised in His word in Malachi 3:10.
Malachi 3:10
King James Version (KJV)
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
He gave us a command to bring our tithes so that there may be food in His house. He asked us to 'Test Him'. Oh boy!!! Our God is a God who does not lie. If we put Him to the test and remain faithful to His commands, we will see the wonders He will do in our lives.
A tithe is 1/10th of your income. God asks us to set that aside to ensure there is food in the store house and also to help the growth in the church and reaching out to other people who are still to learn about Christ. My foundation in Christ began when i started listening to Joel Osteen's words on TV and i know that other people's tithes were responsible for geting the message out in TV and thus for those motivational words to reach me.
Well,on to my story. A lady told yesterday of how the company she was working for closed down. The director called her and said he was sorry but their operations in Cameroon were not going as planned so they would have to pay them off. She said although she was in despair she knew that God was faithful. She thought to herself that she had no strong educational background, no Godfathers anywhere, but she still tithed for she and her son. When she was paid off,the first thing she did was set aside money for her tithes before thinking of what to do. After she had paid her tithes,a few weeks later, the same director called her back. He said although they are leaving the country, they would still maintain a presence in Cameroon and they will let go of all other staff but keep her to represent the operations!!! Can i hear somebody say Amen??? Our God is an Ephesians 3:20 God.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us
He does far out and beyond.
My colleague was having challenges at her job. She was in an interim position and was not even sure she would be confirmed. She was worried and asked the pastor to pray for her. The pastor asked her if she had been tithing faithfully. She said of course she had. The pastor told her, then you do not need prayers. Stand on Malachi 3:10 on God's promise. Guess what!!! She was not only confirmed at the job but was promoted to a much higher position. God too like show show oh!!! Read on.
Two years ago,i had gotten fed up at my job in AES. I had just listened to one of Joel Osteen's CDs and he asked us to take our faith to a higher level and tithe not only a tenth of our income but what we were believing God for. So,me Mrs Bold as usual,I said why not! If we can sometimes test human beings who are hardly reliable and they keep their promise, what about the God fo truth who does not lie? So i told God, I want my salary doubled!
So, in January i tithed 1/10th of what i wanted my salary to be. We all know how January month is long and tedious after festivities. My pockets groaned but i tithed double my usual amount. Guess what! Your tithes can affect even your family members. That month,my mother's arrears which had been blocked with the government for about 8years miraculously passed. I came back home from work one day and saw my house stocked and money in an envelope for me. I only heard that mummy had passed by. I called and asked if she had robbed a bank. She laughed and said the good Lord had done it.
In February, i tithed again the same amount. My dad had an abandoned plot he had been trying to sell for years which he had completely forgotten about since it was in a swampy area. Someone actually came and looked for him and paid cash double what he had been trying to sell it before.
In March 2010, i was called for an interview in MAERSK. It was for a different position from what i currently hold. They wanted to pay me a salary more than what i was earning at AES but less than what i was believing God for. I refused. My husband asked me if i was mad. I told Him that my God does not lie. His gifts are without repentance. I said i had believed God for a particular salary and i will not call Him a liar by accepting less. When i turned down the offer, they proposed me a higher position than what i had even applied for and gave me what i asked. Can i hear someone say Amen!!! PLEASE READ ON!!!
Meanwhile i had been talking to my husband,Gigi about tithing. He was still quite skeptical. When he saw the works of God in my life, he decided it was time to test that God of mine as he was also looking for another job. I accompanied him to church in July 2010 i think. The first elder he met handed him an envelope and when he looked at it,guess what was written...Malachi 3:10 and the words. He said "Marj,i really believe God is talking to me" because just that morning we had prayed together and i had read out that verse to him. He tithed that month. Ladies and Gentlemen,he was appointed at a new job in a higher position in September 2010.
My dear friends, God can do exceedingly far out and beyond in our lives if we trust Him,obey Him and obey His words. What are you believing God for today? Is it a husband? Is it a wife? Is it a child? Is it a new job? Better finances? Put God to the test and see if He will not bombard you with blessings.
Remember His word does not lie. We just need to have faith in Him and live according to His commands. May the name of the Lord be praised.
May you all be blessed in the mighty name of Jesus.

HI Marj ,
ReplyDeleteThis was so inspiring as I was going through a stuggle and was praying for a breakthrough indeed in many fields in my life as I was lagging and that's what I thought. Now with Jesus I'm no more lagging but far beyond any one in all fields . I'm also a Maersk employee working for MLIT IT(network support team) operation in India (INMAA04) . They have recently a month back outsourced us to 3rd party Tier 3 IT company and we all felt bad .Your post brought back faith ( all glory to GOD) and peace as I never missed a tithe in the last 6 months . I was praying for a better abroad job and a Good wife ive desired which i believe is in accordance to the Lord .
GOD bless You .
Wooh this is so great and inspirational,i needed this today. The whole week i have been thinking about giving and i was waiting for Sunday to come and ask my pastor to teach me more on generously giving beyond my usual tithe. The answer is now in my hands ,be blessed all.
ReplyDeleteAm definitely going to put God to test.
ReplyDeleteGod is faithful and His word is truth. He always blessed me beyond and above what I can ever imagine. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGod bless us all! In Jesus Name I pray. Thank you for sharing your story. It came at a great time in my life.
ReplyDeleteI needed to hear this, this made me cry. Thank you so much for sharing, I needed to hear this, Now I will start to trust God & do as his word says, I will surely come back with a testimony. God bless you Sister you are truly a blessing x
ReplyDeleteim surely going to put God to test.Il be cumn bac with a testimony.
ReplyDeleteSoooooooo I come back with a testimony (praise God).
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to share this testimony and hopefully encourage someone.
I had problems with my heating (not having hot water and heating for nearly 2 years now) which turned into me taking out a disrepair claim against my landlord (which is still on going, will be resolved shortly).
I was given temporary heaters to heat my home for a long period of time which resulted in high bills. My landlord paid the first bill, the next bill was for over £1000 they refused to pay the bill until the disrepair claim is been finished.
The electricity company (E.On) said if I don't pay they will pass it on to debt collectors. They put this information on my credit file which went really bad. They went into an agreement for me to pay £200 a month.
Due to child tax credits stopping I reduced the payment to £150 a month. I applied to E.on electricity company trust for help to clear the bill they said no. I applied to British gas trust and left it and never thought anything of it.
This month God told me to tithe I was like hmmmmmm but God you know the sistutation, Ill be honest i was not a tither, but i obeyed God and tithed.
I stood on Malachi 3:10 - 12, 2 corinthians 9:6, I prayed and reminded God of his word. I said God you said you will open up the windows of Heaven and pour you out a blessing that you will not have room enough to receive it. I changed my confessions to my bills are paid off, I kept thanking God and gave offering
My bill with Eon is currently is £859.
I came home today and found a cheque for £1084.39 from British gas trust in the post on my behalf for E.On to clear my bill.
Thank you Jesus.
If God can do it for me he will do it for you, stand on his word.
Amen

ReplyDeleteHi, Marj I am guilty of not tithing my 10%. Yet I keep telling myself every month I must do it. I also worry about what is going to happen if I tithe the full amount and I have so much debt to pay I am also under debt review, etc... I am praying for a fully paid bigger house, my husband to stop his drinking, for a better job and more money (I constantly go for interviews) but nothing materialises, etc. This as such a great testimony that I actually feel I am cheating God.
Thank you for this. I will print and put it up everywhere at home.

ReplyDeleteThank you for posting. I read last night about someone tithing on a future salary. I thought that was too radical for me. This morning i read about you tithing on a future salary and felt encouraged to do the same. I feel excited and somewhat nervous about doing it. But i have nothing to lose.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing this studying on tithing and trust me the testimonies are just amazing. I'm a living testimony
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story. I'm truly inspired. God bless you. Definitely going to put God to the test.
ReplyDeletethank you everyone, very inspiring!
